Purpose of the Exam | The test aims to help expand access to higher education in Japanese by assessing the Japanese language understanding of those who are not native speakers of Japanese at levels N5 to N3 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), which is the basic level required to attend university in Japan. | ||
Eligibility to sit the Exam | As a general rule, only non-native speakers of Japanese may sit the exam. There are no restrictions on nationality, educational background, age, and the like. | ||
Exam Fees | Evaluation test | 4,991 yen (tax included.) | The evaluation level, which is documented as a level certification issued following the exam, can be entered on official documents such as employment resumes and similar. |
Assessment test | 2,139 yen (tax included.) | The assessment test only gives feedback on performance. Since the evaluation level is not certified, a level certificate will not be issued. |
